Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov met with Asian Development Bank (ADB) Country Director for Uzbekistan Kanokpan Lao-Araya on 6 October.
The meeting was also attended by ADB Country Operations Head Mirzo Iskandar Gulyamov, the bank’s Senior Economist Sherzod Akbarov and other representatives of the two sides.
The participants focused on expanding cooperation, implementing ongoing joint initiatives and preparing new projects.
The development of the semiconductor industry and microelectronics was a separate area of discussion.
The sides considered opportunities to strengthen Uzbekistan’s innovation potential and attract international experience and technical assistance to develop these areas.
The participants also discussed the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies into economic processes and accelerating digital transformation.
The agenda also included infrastructure and socioeconomic projects being implemented through public-private partnerships.
The sides considered opportunities to expand private-sector participation in such initiatives.
Following the meeting, Uzbekistan and the ADB confirmed their intention to continue practical cooperation and joint work on new initiatives aimed at the country’s economic and technological development.
