Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Two Uzbek citizens who were internationally wanted on charges of committing criminal offences have been detained in Istanbul.

One of the detainees, F.F.N., had been wanted since 2017 on charges under Part 3 of Article 164 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (robbery). His international search therefore continued for almost nine years.

The second detainee, A.M.A., was wanted internationally on charges under Part 3 of Article 168 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (fraud).

Following their detention, both citizens were handed over to the competent authorities of Uzbekistan in accordance with established procedures.

Relevant investigative and procedural actions are currently continuing against them.

The detentions resulted from cooperation between the law enforcement authorities of Uzbekistan and Türkiye in identifying individuals wanted internationally and combating crime.
