Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The 13th joint meeting of the Uzbek-Russian and Russian-Uzbek Business Councils was held in Ferghana on 6 October, bringing together representatives of ministries and agencies of the two countries, regional chambers of commerce and industry and business circles. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan reported this.
The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Odilkhon Rustamov and Executive Director of the Russian-Uzbek Business Council Fedor Degtyaryov.
Opening remarks were delivered by Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Vladimir Ilyichev, Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Padalko and Jakhongir Akramov, Deputy Head of the Investment and Light Industry Department of Ferghana Region.
During the meeting, entrepreneurs from the two countries presented projects in textiles, the agro-industrial sector, logistics, robotics and artificial intelligence. The participants also discussed opportunities to establish joint production facilities and bring manufactured products to the markets of Russia and Central Asian countries.
A separate part of the talks focused on the development of women’s entrepreneurship. Representatives of the Sharq Ayoli International Public Foundation and the all-Russian public organisation Women in Business presented their experience and discussed prospects for cooperation in this area.
Following the meeting, the agreements reached were formalised in a number of documents.
In particular, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Federal Corporation for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, the Russian-Uzbek Business Council and the Uzbek-Russian Business Council.
In addition, cooperation memorandums were signed by the Ferghana Regional Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, the Tyumen Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the South Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The agreements are aimed at expanding direct contacts between entrepreneurs from the two countries, implementing new joint projects and further developing trade and economic cooperation.
