Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A new overpass built by Uzbekistan Railways JSC was opened on 3 October on the railway section between the Sobir Rakhimov and Urtaaul stations.

The overpass was built at the site of an existing railway crossing at kilometre 3,384, PC-2. As part of the project, a two-track railway bridge measuring 23.6 metres in length was constructed. The railway tracks were moved back to their previous location, while railway and road detours with a combined length of 1.2 km were also built.

A total of 237 piles were drilled for the foundation of the retaining wall. More than 11,000 cubic metres of concrete were used in the structure. In addition, 800 metres of the overhead contact network were relocated.

The total volume of earthworks completed reached 60,000 cubic metres. The installation of “alikafon” was also completed at the site, along with the construction of two drainage facilities for rainwater and melting snow.

Modern roads and pedestrian paths were built as part of the project.

The new overpass is expected to provide additional convenience for residents of Zangiata district and passengers travelling through the area. Its opening will also help reduce congestion, ease the burden on roads and ensure safer and more comfortable traffic.
