Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A delegation from Uzbekistan has held a series of meetings in the Republic of Korea focused on digitalizing public procurement, developing local production, transferring technologies and expanding institutional cooperation.
The delegation included representatives of the Agency for Industrial Cooperation and Public Procurement and relevant government agencies.
At the headquarters of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the sides discussed further development of Uzbekistan’s electronic public procurement system based on South Korea’s experience. Particular attention was paid to opportunities to attract technical assistance and use grant programs.
The sides also considered the involvement of Korean experts and professional development for specialists working in the field.
At a meeting with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the participants discussed establishing contacts with Korean manufacturers of products with potential for localization in Uzbekistan.
The sides considered holding B2B meetings with Korean businesses, developing technological partnerships, implementing joint projects and expanding industrial cooperation.
Another part of the visit focused on studying the experience of the Public Procurement Service (PPS) of the Republic of Korea.
The Uzbek delegation reviewed practices in centralized procurement management and the operation of the KONEPS electronic procurement system.
Particular attention was paid to electronic catalogs and framework agreements, price monitoring, supplier evaluation, the use of the total cost of ownership (TCO) approach, electronic contracts and payments, and the integration of government information systems.
The participants also examined mechanisms for risk analysis using artificial intelligence technologies.
In addition, the delegation visited the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), where it reviewed modern developments in artificial intelligence, digital and telecommunications technologies, high-definition television and autonomous transportation.
The meetings focused on studying South Korea’s experience and identifying practical areas for further cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea in public procurement, industrial cooperation and advanced technologies.
