Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Competition Committee, together with the Inspection for Control over the Agro-Industrial Complex, conducted a follow-up inventory of flour-producing enterprises that purchased wheat from the Fund through exchange trading.

The inspection was carried out as part of ongoing monitoring of factors affecting the placement of in-demand products, including wheat and flour, on exchange trading, their sale and price formation.

During the inventory, specialists examined enterprises’ production capacities, grain processing volumes and output of finished products, as well as warehouse and other storage facilities. They also checked the availability of certificates of conformity and sanitary and epidemiological conclusions.

The inspection found that Uzbekistan has 301 business entities engaged in flour production.

Of these, 49 enterprises have no own production facilities and operate under tolling agreements. Another 22 enterprises are temporarily inactive, while the operations of six enterprises have been suspended.

In addition, 42 enterprises did not have certificates of conformity, while eight lacked sanitary and epidemiological conclusions.

Thus, the inventory identified 127 enterprises with the above-mentioned discrepancies or operational characteristics.

Following the inspection, the Competition Committee submitted proposals to the relevant authorities to strengthen oversight of the targeted use of Fund wheat by enterprises that purchased it through exchange trading.

It also proposed improving the existing regulatory mechanisms in this area.
