Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Kamilla Rakhimova was eliminated from the WTA tournament in Beijing after losing to American Iva Jovic 1–6, 5–7 in the second round.

The 18-year-old Jovic, the tournament’s No. 10 seed, made a confident start. In the opening set, Rakhimova committed 25 unforced errors, allowing the American to take a 4–0 lead. The first four games lasted around 30 minutes, with each going to deuce.

Rakhimova improved her game in the second set and took a 5–2 lead. At 5–3, with Jovic serving, the Uzbek player had two set points at 15–40.

However, the American managed to save both set points.

She saved the first after a lengthy rally that began with a serve, while on the second she successfully used a drop shot.

Jovic then levelled the second set and won the next games to close out the match in straight sets, 6–1, 7–5.

The match lasted 114 minutes.

The victory sent Jovic into the next round, where she will face Poland’s Iga Swiatek for a place in the quarterfinals.
