Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a working visit to Turkmenistan on 7–9 October at the invitation of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan said.
In the National Tourist Zone of Avaza, the Uzbek president will attend the eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, as well as the next summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
During the Consultative Meeting, the participants are expected to discuss further development of political and diplomatic cooperation, expansion of trade and economic ties, and cooperation in the energy sector.
Particular attention will be paid to joint measures to protect the environment and adapt to climate change. The agenda will also include the development of cultural, educational and scientific ties, as well as youth exchanges.
The heads of state will exchange views on current regional and international issues, including efforts to ensure peace, stability and security.
At the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, participants are expected to review the results of multilateral cooperation within the organisation and outline prospects for its further development. Particular attention will be paid to the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the CIS.
The planned events are expected to result in the adoption of a package of joint documents.
Mirziyoyev’s visit programme also includes a number of bilateral meetings.
