Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — September 2026 ranked among the warmest Septembers on record in Uzbekistan. Average air temperatures across most of the country were 1.2–2.5 degrees Celsius above the climate norm, according to an Uzbekhydromet review.

Throughout the month, temperatures generally reflected the beginning of the autumn season and were characterized by relatively warm weather without sharp fluctuations. Across most of the country, temperatures generally ranged from +29 to +34 degrees Celsius, rising to +35…+37 degrees on the hottest days in some areas and to +38 degrees in the south and desert zone.

At the same time, the recorded temperatures remained below historical September maximums. Across most of the country, those records stand at +38…+40 degrees, while in the north, south and desert zone they reach +41…+42 degrees.

During the final week of September, temperatures gradually declined. Daytime temperatures generally reached +24…+27 degrees, while in the far south they rose to +28…+30 degrees.

In Tashkent, the average monthly temperature in September ranked fourth among the warmest recorded for the entire observation period.

Precipitation was extremely limited in September. Across most of Uzbekistan, except for northern and eastern areas, there was either no rainfall or only one to three instances of light, short-lived precipitation.

At the same time, precipitation in most areas of Karakalpakstan and the Ferghana Valley exceeded the September norm by 1.5–3 times, while in some locations it was 4–6 times higher. A total of 5–14 mm of precipitation was recorded there, compared with a norm of 2–4 mm.

Wind speeds also increased in some parts of the country during the month. In the north, south and desert zone, and less frequently in central areas, wind speeds reached 13–18 m/s. On 2–3 September in the Ustyurt Plateau and on 20 September in the mountainous areas of Tashkent Region, gusts reached 20–21 m/s.

In some areas, stronger winds were accompanied by blowing dust and dust haze. On 24 September, a mudflow and flood event was recorded in Chust district of Namangan Region.

September continued the trend of unusually warm weather in Uzbekistan. Earlier, it was reported that the summer of 2026 ranked second among the hottest summer seasons in the history of observations, while in some regions it was the warmest on record.

The average seasonal temperature at that time was 1.2–2.6 degrees above the norm, with the highest temperatures recorded in July.
