Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Former Uzbek Deputy Interior Minister, Major General Bekmurod Abdullaev has been appointed head of the Department for Coordinating the Activities of Internal Affairs Bodies in Tashkent’s Chilanzar District.
The appointment order was signed by the interior minister and confirmed by the ministry’s press service.
Abdullaev has extensive experience in law enforcement. In 2018, he served as deputy head of the Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs and headed the department responsible for financial and logistical support.
In November 2019, he was appointed head of the Interior Ministry’s Main Directorate for Patrol and Public Order Protection.
Abdullaev later continued his service in the National Guard, where he worked as first deputy commander for public security.
In April 2021, he returned to the Interior Ministry and was appointed deputy interior minister and head of the Public Security Department. He held the position until 3 November 2025.
Abdullaev was awarded the special rank of major general in January 2023.
The new appointment comes after Abdullaev had previously been involved in a criminal case.
In January 2026, the Uzbek presidential website reported that the Interior Ministry system had uncovered the embezzlement of 186 billion soums in budget funds in public procurement. Abdullaev and former head of the Penal Enforcement Department Rustam Tursunov were among those charged in the case.
In the summer, the case materials were sent to court. According to information from the Tashkent City Courts, Abdullaev and other defendants faced charges including misappropriation or embezzlement under Article 167 of the Criminal Code and abuse of power or official authority under Article 205.
A total of 30 people were involved in the case. The trial was held behind closed doors because it involved information concerning private life and other information protected by law.
Abdullaev will now continue working within the Interior Ministry system, heading the department responsible for coordinating the activities of internal affairs bodies in Chilanzar District.
