Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — An eight-storey tower parking facility has been installed in Kichkirik mahalla in Tashkent’s Almazar district, becoming one of the first facilities of its kind in Uzbekistan.
The tower operates on a lift system and can accommodate up to 16 vehicles at the same time, the Uzbek presidential press service said.
On 11 September, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the results of improvements in the mahalla and the conditions created for its residents.
The tower parking facility is equipped with a central lift that takes a vehicle and places it in an available space on either the right or left side of the structure.
The design allows up to 16 cars to be parked simultaneously on a site that previously could accommodate only several vehicles.
The parking facility is one of the projects implemented as part of a large-scale improvement programme in the mahalla. Kichkirik is home to 23 apartment buildings and more than 5,400 residents. A package of improvement works was carried out under the state’s “Obod mahalla” programme, with 71.4 billion soums allocated from the local budget.
The project has created a modern urban environment in the mahalla, including a 2.4-km walking zone along the Kichkirik canal, 12.4 km of pedestrian paths and additional green spaces.
Recreational and leisure facilities, sports grounds and other infrastructure have also been installed. Twelve workout areas and three football pitches have been developed for young people, while libraries have also begun operating.
As part of the improvements, the facades of apartment buildings were renovated, benches and lighting fixtures were installed, and around 6,500 ornamental and fruit trees were planted.
During his visit to the mahalla, the president issued instructions on increasing employment and reducing poverty among residents.
