Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Central Bank and Hong Kong’s Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (FSTB) signed a memorandum of understanding in Hong Kong on 9 September 2026 aimed at developing cooperation in the gold and other precious metals markets, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan said.
The memorandum was signed on the sidelines of the Belt and Road Summit 2026. Uzbekistan’s side was represented by Central Bank Deputy Chairman Abror Mirzo Olimov, while Hong Kong was represented by Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui.
The memorandum provides for institutional cooperation, the exchange of experience and expertise, and the study of opportunities offered by modern financial infrastructure for precious metals markets.
The parties agreed to exchange experience in developing gold and other precious metals markets and related financial infrastructure. The document also provides for studying clearing and settlement mechanisms and expanding practical cooperation between the parties.
