Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan will begin paying childcare benefits to employed women until their children reach one year of age from 1 January 2027, according to a presidential decree on increasing household incomes through sustainable employment and accelerated small business development.

The decree was signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Justice Ministry said.

Under the document, the State Social Insurance Fund will pay childcare benefits to women employed under labour contracts from the end of their maternity leave until their child reaches one year of age.

From the same date, assessments of people’s need for social assistance and services, as well as inclusion in the Social Register, will be conducted using a multidimensional assessment system. It will take into account not only a family’s financial situation but also chronic illnesses, disabilities, external labour migration, having many children and other criteria among family members.

Families’ socioeconomic status will be assessed using a points-based scoring system. Based on the results, families will be assigned to the relevant categories and receive appropriate social assistance and services.

In addition, families included in the Social Register category of “families receiving state support” will receive additional interest-free loans under family entrepreneurship development programmes. The loans will total 100 billion soums in 2026 and 300 billion soums in 2027.

The initiative to provide benefits to working mothers was announced earlier. On 3 September, at a meeting on reducing poverty and increasing household incomes, Mirziyoyev said working mothers included in the Social Register would receive payments from the Social Insurance Fund until their children reach one year of age.
