Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the progress of construction of Uzbekistan’s new National Museum in Tashkent on 11 September. Presidential Administration Head Saida Mirziyoyeva spoke about the significance of the project.
The museum’s architectural concept was developed by Tadao Ando, one of the world’s best-known contemporary architects and a Pritzker Prize laureate.
According to Saida Mirziyoyeva, the National Museum will become one of Central Asia’s largest cultural projects. The building will house exhibition halls, a library, restoration laboratories and educational centres.
She stressed the importance of involving world-class architects in projects of this kind.
“Objects they create remain in cities for decades and themselves become works of art, a new part of their history and cultural heritage,” Mirziyoyeva said.
