Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Thailand have agreed to sign an agreement on visa-free travel, which is currently under consideration by the Thai side, Omonulla Fayziyev, spokesperson for Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said.

According to Fayziyev, Uzbekistan stepped up diplomatic efforts in May 2026 to simplify travel conditions for Uzbek citizens visiting Thailand.

As part of these efforts, the two countries held a series of direct talks with Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, resulting in an agreement to sign the relevant document.

Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry is also continuing its work in response to difficulties faced by Uzbek citizens when applying for Thai electronic visas.

Uzbekistan’s Consulate General in Thailand regularly holds bilateral meetings with representatives of the kingdom’s foreign ministry and its Ministry of Tourism and Sports. Uzbekistan’s Embassy in Russia is also in contact with Thailand’s diplomatic mission in Moscow.

Earlier, Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports proposed allowing Uzbek citizens to enter the country without a visa for stays of up to 15 days.

However, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry has not specified whether the proposed 15-day period will be included in the bilateral agreement currently under consideration.

The final terms of the visa-free regime and the signing date have not yet been announced.
