Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has proposed expanding the range of free services available to passengers at international airports, major railway stations and bus terminals.
The proposals are included in a draft resolution published for public discussion.
Under the draft, free luggage storage for passengers holding tickets would be introduced gradually at transport hubs from 1 July 2027. The service would be available during the 24 hours before departure and after arrival.
Passengers would also be provided with free Wi-Fi access for at least one hour.
The draft also предусматривает the installation of special electronic terminals at airports and railway stations for ordering official taxis. Passengers would be able to enter their destination, check the fare in advance and place an order.
The terminals would operate without requiring a SIM card or mobile internet connection. Once an order had been placed, passengers would be able to receive a receipt containing a QR code.
The document notes that Wi-Fi quality and reliability remain problematic at major transport facilities.
It also states that a unified system for ordering official taxis through electronic terminals and issuing QR-coded receipts has yet to be introduced, while free luggage storage for ticket holders has not been organised according to a common standard.
The proposed measures are intended to improve service quality and make travel more comfortable for passengers.
However, the changes remain proposals in a draft resolution submitted for public discussion and have not yet been adopted.
