Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A new IMKON centre providing rehabilitation and specialised support for children has opened in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, as part of an international summit on investing in children's well-being and promoting sustainable and equitable development for future generations.

The opening ceremony was attended by Uzbekistan's First Lady Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, other first ladies and senior guests participating in the summit.

The centre is part of the National Agency for Social Protection under the President of Uzbekistan. It will provide preschool education, specialised educational support and comprehensive rehabilitation services.

Programmes will be tailored to each child's individual needs. Parents will also be able to receive guidance from specialists on how to reinforce the skills their children acquire during treatment and educational sessions at home.

The preschool department has a capacity of 150 children and includes 10 specialised groups for children aged two to seven.

The outpatient department will be able to provide rehabilitation courses to around 100 children per month, covering those aged two to 18.

Services at the centre will include therapeutic exercise, speech and fine motor skills development, sensory integration, physiotherapy and other procedures. The facility will employ doctors specialising in seven medical fields, as well as special education teachers, speech therapists, psychologists, rehabilitation specialists and other staff.

The Samarkand facility has joined the IMKON network, which also operates centres in Nukus, Kibray, Karshi and Zarafshan.

In 2025, the network's facilities delivered more than 546,000 procedures and sessions, while 3,777 children received outpatient rehabilitation.

The network is continuing to expand. Construction of a similar centre has already begun in Ferghana, while two more facilities are planned for Namangan and Nurafshan in Tashkent region.
