Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Namangan plans to launch new electric buses to improve the quality of public transport and expand environmentally friendly transportation services. The first 10 Zhongtong electric buses have already been delivered to the city as part of a contract to supply 125 buses from China, the Namangan Region hokimiyat said.
The modernization of the public transport system is being carried out as part of the implementation of Presidential Resolution No. PQ-59 dated 16 February 2023. Particular attention is being paid to increasing the number of modern buses and creating more comfortable conditions for passengers.
During the period, entrepreneurs in Namangan Region purchased 108 modern buses for the city. They serve residents on 10 routes under gross contracts.
To further develop environmentally friendly transport, Turon-95 MBI LLC signed a contract to purchase 125 modern Chinese-made buses. Under the agreement, 10 Zhongtong electric buses have already arrived in Namangan.
The electric buses are planned to be assigned to the Otchopar–Chorsu route following tender procedures and will operate under a gross contract in accordance with Namangan’s master plan for the road transport system.
More than 20 jobs are expected to be created as part of the operation of the new electric buses.
Namangan Region Hokim Shavkatjon AbduraZZakov, Regional Prosecutor Umirbek Madrahimov and responsible officials attended an event marking the arrival of the electric buses.
Participants reviewed the technical specifications of the electric buses, passenger facilities and their operational capabilities on urban routes.
The launch of the new electric buses is expected to further improve Namangan’s public transport system, enhance the quality of services for residents and support the development of an environmentally sustainable transport system.
