Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Fifty-seven people have been hospitalized in Uchkuprik district of the Ferghana region with symptoms allegedly linked to food poisoning, according to Uzbekistan’s Committee for Food Safety.
Residents of the district began seeking medical assistance at the district medical association on 17–18 September, complaining of weakness, nausea and diarrhea. As of 20:00, 57 people had sought medical attention, all of whom were hospitalized.
An initial epidemiological investigation found that those who sought medical assistance had consumed hot dogs, non-burgers and other products at one of the fast-food outlets on Navruzshoh Street in Uchkuprik district.
Doctors suspected food poisoning in the patients. There are no seriously ill patients or people requiring intensive care among those hospitalized.
The epidemiological investigation is ongoing. The operation of the business premises has been temporarily suspended in accordance with the procedure established by law.
