Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Total demand from legal entities and individuals for foreign currency in Uzbekistan reached US$44.3 billion in January–August 2026, up 17.3% from US$37.8 billion in the same period last year, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan reported.

Legal entities accounted for US$34.7 billion of total foreign currency purchases, while individuals accounted for US$9.6 billion.

Total foreign currency supply increased by 25.5%, or US$7.8 billion, during the reporting period, reaching US$38.2 billion. Individuals sold about US$16.6 billion to commercial banks, while legal entities sold US$21.6 billion.

The exchange rate fluctuated between 11,779 soums and 12,320 soums per US dollar in January–August and strengthened by 1.5% over the reporting period.

The average exchange rate volatility stood at 32.3 soums, or 0.27%, compared with 32.4 soums, or 0.26%, in the same period of 2025, the regulator noted.
