Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s installed solar power capacity increased by 86.1% in 2025 to reach 5,934 MW.
The country consumed 54.32 billion cubic metres of natural gas that year, while domestic production stood at 40.16 billion cubic metres and gas imports totalled 19.88 billion cubic metres. The figures were reported by Eni in its World Energy Review 2026, which is based on 2025 data.
Solar capacity growth in Uzbekistan accelerated sharply from 2022. It stood at 1 MW in 2015 and remained at 4 MW from 2019 to 2021. It then rose to 204 MW in 2022, 867 MW in 2023 and 3,188 MW in 2024.
Kazakhstan’s solar capacity amounted to 1,325 MW in 2025, making Uzbekistan’s figure more than four times higher.
Uzbekistan’s installed wind power capacity reached 1,652 MW in 2025, compared with 501 MW a year earlier. It had remained at 1 MW between 2019 and 2023.
Solar power generation reached 3,965 GWh in 2024, while wind power generation totalled 790 GWh. In 2023, the figures stood at 622 GWh and 7 GWh, respectively. The review does not provide data on Uzbekistan’s solar and wind power generation for 2025.
In the gas sector, production increased by 2.4% in 2025 to 40.16 billion cubic metres, but remained below previous levels of 46.55 billion cubic metres in 2015 and 51.76 billion cubic metres in 2019.
A year earlier, in 2024, production amounted to 39.22 billion cubic metres. Over the past decade, gas consumption increased from 35.40 billion to 54.32 billion cubic metres, rising by 5.1% in 2025.
Per capita gas consumption reached 1,466 cubic metres in 2025, compared with 1,151 cubic metres in 2015. Domestic production covered 74% of consumption, down from 131% in 2015.
Gas exports totalled 5.72 billion cubic metres in 2025, compared with 10.22 billion cubic metres in 2015 and 11.55 billion cubic metres in 2019.
Gas imports, which were absent in 2019 and 2020, amounted to 2.14 billion cubic metres in 2021, 2.04 billion in 2022, 4.15 billion in 2023 and 19.88 billion in 2024. The same volume was imported in 2025.
Gas reserves at the end of 2025 were estimated at 846 billion cubic metres, down from 867 billion cubic metres before 2022. At the current production rate, the reserves would last 21 years.
In the oil sector, production stood at 81,000 barrels per day in 2025. This was down from 85,000 barrels per day in 2023 and 83,000 in 2024, but remained above the 2015 level of 66,000 barrels per day.
Oil consumption increased from 84,000 to 147,000 barrels per day over the decade, with a 5.3% rise in 2025. Domestic production covered 55% of consumption, compared with 79% in 2015.
Crude oil imports amounted to 7,000 barrels per day in 2025. Oil reserves have remained unchanged since 2020 and are estimated at 591 million barrels, equivalent to 20 years of production.
CO2 emissions totalled 121.8 million tonnes in 2024, up 1.0% from the previous year. They stood at 94.4 million tonnes in 2015, representing average annual growth of 2.9% over the period. The review does not provide data for 2025.
