Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A meeting was held in Istanbul between Abdulaziz Akkulov, chairman of Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee, Murat Seker, chairman of Turkish Airlines’ Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ahmet Harun Basturk.
The talks focused on promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential through the airline’s extensive international route network, making more effective use of existing flights, increasing the number of foreign tourists, expanding cooperation in MICE tourism and implementing new joint projects.
The parties also agreed to develop special tourism packages and promotional airfares, hold B2B meetings with foreign tour operators, and organise international advertising and information campaigns.
Following the meeting, the Tourism Committee and Turkish Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential in international markets and increasing tourist arrivals.
The cooperation includes joint advertising campaigns in foreign markets, the production of videos showcasing Uzbekistan’s historical and cultural heritage and tourist attractions, and the organisation of familiarisation tours for foreign bloggers and journalists.
Particular attention will be given to jointly promoting Uzbekistan as a tourist destination in markets served by Turkish Airlines but not by Uzbekistan’s national carriers.
Seasonal airfare promotions and additional incentives are also planned to increase passenger traffic to the country’s main tourist cities.
Uzbekistan will also be promoted as an attractive tourist destination through the airline’s information channels, email newsletters, mobile applications and customer loyalty programmes.
Turkish Airlines operates flights to 358 destinations in 133 countries. In 2025, the airline carried 92.6 million passengers.
The cooperation is expected to raise Uzbekistan’s profile in the international tourism market and attract more foreign visitors to the country.
