Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A meeting was held in Istanbul between Abdulaziz Akkulov, chairman of Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee, and Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Türkiye’s Minister of Culture and Tourism.
The talks focused on further strengthening tourism ties between the two countries, increasing mutual tourist flows, developing new travel routes and creating joint tourism products.
The sides emphasised that the shared history, language, culture and values of the two nations provide an important foundation for cooperation in tourism.
Particular attention was given to studying Türkiye’s experience in managing tourist destinations, hotel operations, preserving cultural heritage and developing gastronomic tourism. The participants also discussed opportunities to create joint tourism products in pilgrimage tourism, tourism related to the heritage of Islamic civilisation and MICE tourism.
The sides also exchanged views on organising familiarisation trips for media representatives and bloggers from both countries, promoting their tourism opportunities more widely in international media, and facilitating the exchange of expertise among industry professionals.
Following the meeting, the parties signed a Joint Action Plan on Cooperation in Tourism between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Türkiye for 2026–2028.
The document sets out specific areas of cooperation aimed at expanding mutual tourist exchanges, developing pilgrimage tourism, creating joint travel routes, participating together in international events, improving the professional skills of industry specialists and developing the tourism potential of Uzbekistan’s regions.
The agreements provide an important basis for introducing new practical initiatives into tourism relations between the two countries, increasing the number of tourists from Türkiye visiting Uzbekistan and developing long-term mutually beneficial cooperation.
