Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Ninety-eight investment projects have been launched and construction has begun on another 108 projects in Andijan Region, with a combined value of US$9.4 billion. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in a ceremony launching the projects during his visit to the region.
The 206 projects have a total value of US$9.4 billion. Of these, 98 projects worth US$2.05 billion have already been commissioned, while construction has started on 108 projects worth US$7.35 billion.
The projects cover energy, construction, textiles, mechanical engineering, education, tourism, logistics, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and other sectors. They are being implemented across all 16 cities and districts of Andijan Region.
The ceremony marked the launch of a cotton and textile cluster, an electricity storage and distribution system, and industrial zones for furniture and leather and footwear production. Production of electric buses, solar panels and small hydropower equipment has also begun. Modern education and medical centers have been commissioned at the same time.
The new projects include the construction of modern residential complexes, international logistics and tourism centers, hydropower plants and facilities producing electricity through the thermal processing of waste. New production capacity for vehicles and freight railcars is also planned.
The projects are being implemented jointly with companies from China, Türkiye, South Korea, the United States, Russia, Belarus, Germany, India, the United Arab Emirates and Tajikistan, as well as with the participation of local investors.
The implementation of the 206 projects is expected to create more than 45,000 new jobs. Annual production is projected at 60.6 trillion soums, while export potential is expected to reach US$533 million.
Representatives of cities and districts in the region, foreign partners and project initiators participated in the ceremony via video link. They presented information on the significance of the initiatives, their implementation progress and the scheduled commissioning dates.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to foreign partners and local entrepreneurs involved in implementing the projects.
During the ceremony, the president symbolically commissioned the 98 new projects and launched construction of the 108 facilities. A meeting with investors and regional representatives followed.
