Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A driver in Tashkent has been held administratively liable for entering the oncoming lane and creating a dangerous situation. The violation was captured on video that later circulated on social media.

After the footage emerged, officers from the capital's Road Safety Department identified the driver and summoned him for questioning.

During a preventive interview, the motorist explained that he had been rushing to work and had made the dangerous manoeuvre without considering the safety of others. He admitted his guilt, apologised and promised not to repeat the violation.

A department representative said that entering the oncoming lane had put the lives of both the driver and other road users at risk.

According to the representative, staying in his own lane would have delayed the driver's arrival at his destination by just five minutes, without endangering anyone.

Following the investigation, the driver was informed that administrative measures would be taken against him.

The department urged motorists to obey traffic rules and act responsibly behind the wheel.
