Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A bus driver in Tashkent was killed on 7 November after being run over by his own vehicle when it began moving on its own, the press service of Toshshahartransxizmat JSC reported.
According to the company, the driver, identified by the initials J.Z., worked at the 18th Bus Depot. After dropping off passengers at a bus stop, he stopped the vehicle but did not engage the parking brake before leaving the bus.
The bus then began moving without a driver. When he noticed this, the driver tried to stop the vehicle but was caught under its wheels. He died in the accident.
Toshshahartransxizmat described the incident as a heavy loss for its staff and expressed condolences to the deceased driver's family, friends and colleagues.
The company also called on the deceased's loved ones to show patience and strength.
