Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Veolia Energy has attributed the deterioration in hot water quality in Tashkent to preparations for the start of the heating season.

In early November, residents of the capital once again began reporting cloudy, brown-coloured water and an unusual smell.

According to the company, specialists are currently adjusting water circulation in the main pipelines. Changes in pressure and the start of water flows are washing natural deposits that accumulated on the inner walls of the pipes over the summer. Veolia Energy said this was causing temporary discolouration and an unpleasant smell.

The issue has affected some residential buildings in Mirzo-Ulugbek District, including the Karasu, Feruza and Yalangach housing estates.

The company said its crews were manually draining stagnant water at main pipeline junctions and flushing individual sections of the network. According to Veolia Energy, the water contains no abnormal foreign substances.

Consumers were advised not to drain the cloudy water themselves or attempt to alter meter readings. Instead, they should submit a request through the company's Telegram bot, providing their exact address, including the district, housing estate and building number.

Once the request is registered, specialists are expected to visit and flush the relevant section of the network at the external junction.

Veolia Energy apologised to consumers for the temporary inconvenience and said it was taking measures to restore normal system operation.

Similar complaints about hot water quality were reported by Tashkent residents in mid-October, when some said the water had a chemical or kerosene-like smell.

At the time, Issiqlikta’minoti attributed the changes to pipeline testing and the washing out of accumulated deposits of rust, metals and minerals.
