Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A private laundry soap factory in Namangan has been temporarily suspended following complaints from local residents about an unpleasant smell, the Namangan Regional Department of Ecology and Climate Change reported.
The inspection was prompted by residents of the Porloq mahalla in Davlatabad District of Namangan, who reported an unpleasant odour coming from a nearby soap-making workshop.
Officers from the Environmental Police, together with specialists from the regional ecology department, inspected the operations of a private company identified as “H.S.” after notifying the authorised body in advance.
The inspection revealed several violations of environmental requirements. In particular, the facility was not equipped with modern dust and gas filtration systems, allowing pollutants to be released directly into the atmosphere.
Laboratory tests also found that emissions exceeded established limits for certain chemical parameters. In addition, the company did not have a positive conclusion from the state environmental assessment.
In response to the violations, the facility’s operations have been temporarily suspended. Production may resume only after all identified shortcomings have been fully addressed.
The environmental authorities noted that a greenhouse facility in Tashkent had also previously been suspended for burning coal in violation of environmental requirements and operating a faulty filter.
The incident in Namangan highlights the need for industrial enterprises to comply with requirements for treating emissions and ensuring environmental safety.
