Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Authorities in Uzbekistan's Ferghana region have discussed plans for a potential wind power plant with a delegation from Chinese company SPIC International as part of efforts to develop renewable energy and attract investment.

Ferghana regional governor Khayrullo Bozarov met a delegation led by Yang Shiwei, the company's deputy general manager for Central Asia, to explore opportunities for cooperation on the proposed project.

The discussions focused on expanding renewable energy generation in the region and attracting investment for the construction of a wind power facility.

During the meeting, SPIC International representatives outlined the company's experience implementing energy projects in China and other countries. They also discussed their approaches to maintaining construction quality, operational efficiency and safety at energy facilities.

Bozarov emphasized the importance of developing wind energy to meet growing electricity demand, conserve conventional fuel resources and reduce the negative environmental impact of energy production.

Following the talks, both sides agreed to conduct further assessments of the region's wind energy potential and project opportunities with the involvement of relevant technical specialists.

The assessments are intended to help determine the next stages of the proposed project and identify measures to strengthen cooperation between the regional authorities and the Chinese company.

No specific construction timetable or estimated investment amount was disclosed.

The project remains at the assessment stage, with further technical studies and consultations expected to guide decisions on its potential implementation.
