Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has established an Association of Consulting Companies under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan to support the development of the consulting sector, improve the quality of advisory services and strengthen the position of local firms in international markets.
A meeting of consulting businesses was held on 22 October, attended by Bakhrom Makhmatrayevov, deputy chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Umidbek Safarov, chairman of the association.
Representatives of international audit and consulting firms Deloitte & Touche, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, KPMG and Utax took part in the meeting, alongside organisations specialising in auditing, tax advisory services, accounting outsourcing and other areas.
Participants were briefed on the new association's objectives, its main areas of activity and plans for developing Uzbekistan's consulting market.
One of the association's priorities is to bring companies together on a common professional platform, encourage the exchange of experience and strengthen cooperation across the sector.
The association also intends to support the development of standards to bring local consulting services into line with international requirements.
Another area of focus will be identifying systemic problems faced by consulting firms and businesses, as well as preparing practical proposals to address them.
To expand international cooperation, the association plans to establish partnerships with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and leading European and international organisations operating in consulting and tax advisory services.
At the conclusion of the meeting, industry representatives exchanged views on improving service quality to meet international standards, strengthening cooperation between companies and further developing Uzbekistan's domestic consulting market.
