Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, held a meeting on 24 November with senior officials and relevant agencies to address air quality issues in the capital.

The session was convened in response to rising air pollution levels in Tashkent and growing public concern, according to the administration.

During the meeting, Mirziyoyeva reviewed reports on the current state of atmospheric air, citizen complaints, and public proposals. Participants discussed key factors contributing to pollution and potential measures to reduce its negative impact on public health and the environment.

Officials emphasized that violations of environmental standards should be met with decisive action against polluting entities, and that public health must remain a priority for both the state and businesses.

Proposed measures include strengthening environmental oversight, restricting operations of polluting enterprises, tightening construction regulations, expanding urban greenery, and establishing a modern air quality monitoring system.

These initiatives will form the basis of a presidential decree, which is expected to be submitted for consideration in the near future.
