Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Uzbek presidential administration, visited the Uzbekfilm film studio and reviewed its current condition and operations. She said the studio needed to be turned into a national brand and a supporting centre of the country's modern film industry.
According to Saida Mirziyoyeva, Uzbekfilm is not only a filming location but also one of the key centres of national cinema, which for almost a century has reflected the history, fate and experiences of the Uzbek people.
She identified changing the system of managing the sector as one of the main tasks. The state, she said, should act not as a customer interfering in the creative process but as a strategic partner creating conditions for the development and financial support of the film industry.
At the same time, private film studios, independent producers and authors should become the main driving forces of the sector.
Plans call for modernising the entire chain from the production of film content to its release to audiences, including financing, distribution, screening, participation in international festivals and exports. The system for preserving, restoring and digitising the national cinematographic heritage is also expected to be strengthened, along with expanding opportunities for training specialists and international exchange of experience.
Separate attention will be given to forming a professional environment and a culture of self-regulation that takes into account the opinions, experience and authority of directors and other creators of film content.
At the end of the visit, Saida Mirziyoyeva visited the set of a historical film about the childhood of Abu Ali ibn Sina.
She reviewed the large-scale sets and the work of the creative team and wished the film's creators success.
