Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A total of 1,274,527 vehicles travelled on Tashkent’s roads on 18 September. Five road traffic accidents were recorded in the capital that day, injuring eight people. No fatalities were reported, the Tashkent Traffic Management Center said.
During peak hours, the highest traffic volume was recorded from 07:00 to 08:00, when 310,434 vehicles travelled on the city’s roads. From 18:00 to 19:00, the figure stood at 270,621 vehicles.
On 18 September, 1,669 buses operated 21,860 trips across 170 routes, carrying 1,490,346 passengers. The Tashkent Metro served 1,145,326 passengers. The highest passenger traffic was recorded at Chilanzar, Buyuk Ipak Yuli, Beruni, Chinor and Almazar stations.
According to the Situation Center, a congestion level of seven points was recorded at nine intersections between 08:00 and 09:00. These included the intersections of Sarykul and Mehrjon streets, M. Ulugbek and T. Malik streets, G. Aliyev and Lokomotiv streets, Fargona Yuli and Nukus streets, Babur and Nukus streets, Chupon-Ota and Sh. Rustaveli streets, MKAD and Sagbon streets, Nurafshon and Beruni streets, and Bunyodkor and Koratosh streets.
To stabilize traffic flows in congested areas, traffic light operating modes were adjusted and the duration of green signals was increased for certain directions. At some intersections, traffic was regulated by traffic police officers.
Utility and repair works were carried out on several streets on 18 September, partially affecting traffic. The works were conducted by city services, Hududgaztaminot, Toshkent Shahar Elektr Tarmoqlari, Toshkent Shahar Suv Ta’minoti, Hududiy Elektr Tarmoqlari and Veolia Energy Tashkent.
Traffic police officers recorded 14 cases of vehicles travelling on pedestrian paths, 31 parking violations and 60 stopping violations on 18 September. In addition, 893 violations involving pedestrians crossing roads at unauthorized locations were registered.
As part of road infrastructure upgrades, about 4,000 meters of road markings and two pedestrian paths were renewed during the day.
The Tashkent Traffic Management Center urged drivers to take traffic congestion into account when planning routes, comply with stopping and parking rules, give way to pedestrians at crossings, avoid occupying bus stop areas and refrain from obstructing public transport.
