Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent plans to step up enforcement of traffic rules on dedicated public transport lanes from 1 November.

City services will conduct regular raids to detect violations, while buses will be equipped with video recorders.

Under a resolution of the Tashkent City Council of People’s Deputies, the Main Department of Internal Affairs, transport authorities and Toshshahartranskhizmat have been assigned the relevant tasks.

The inspections will target the illegal movement and stopping of private cars in lanes designated for public transport.

In addition to the raids, the authorities plan to introduce an automated video recording system. Video recorders are to be installed at the front of buses by 15 December. The cameras will record violations as the buses travel along their routes.

The video recorders will also be integrated with the unified database of the Road Traffic Safety Department.
