Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Tashkent city administration has launched a large-scale project to update panoramic images of the capital on Google Street View.

The project will involve taking new photographs of the city’s streets and tourist attractions to showcase them to an international audience, the Tashkent city administration’s press service reported.

The update will allow Google Maps users to explore the capital’s streets and landmarks virtually, familiarise themselves with the urban environment and plan travel routes in advance.

The panoramic images will enable users to take virtual tours of the city without being physically present in Tashkent.

City officials said the digital representation of the capital should also reflect the changes taking place across the city.

The updated panoramas are intended to showcase Tashkent’s modern appearance and make information about its tourist attractions more accessible to potential visitors.

The project’s international reach is particularly significant given Google Maps’ global audience. According to figures cited by the city administration, the service is used by more than 2 billion people every month.

The updated images could therefore provide an additional tool for promoting Tashkent’s tourism potential abroad.

For international visitors, a virtual tour could become part of trip planning, allowing them to explore places of interest and check the locations of attractions in advance.

The city administration said the initiative aims to present modern Tashkent and its tourism opportunities to an international audience.

However, the announcement did not specify when the panorama update is expected to be completed or how the photography will be carried out.
