Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A parliamentary delegation from Uzbekistan participated in the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum on 26–27 October, held under India’s chairmanship of the group.

Participants discussed human-centred development, the effective use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies, and interparliamentary cooperation, the press service of the Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis reported.

Orzigul Kozikhonova, chair of the Senate Committee on Youth, Women, Culture and Sports, delivered a report at a panel session titled “Innovation: Promoting Human-Centred Innovation in Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies through Parliamentary Potential.” She outlined Uzbekistan’s experience in developing AI and digital technologies, ensuring that these advances serve people’s interests, and strengthening parliament’s role in the process.

On the sidelines of the forum, members of the Uzbek delegation met Om Birla, speaker of India’s lower house of parliament, the Lok Sabha, and Ganesh Singh, head of the interparliamentary cooperation group with Uzbekistan.

The sides discussed strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and India, expanding parliamentary ties and implementing agreements reached earlier.

They also considered ways to organise the work of interparliamentary cooperation groups systematically, hold regular meetings, arrange reciprocal visits by parliamentary delegations and expand exchanges of experience.

Particular attention was given to cooperation in trade and the economy, education, science and culture.
