Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and German companies are discussing measures to simplify the employment of Uzbek drivers in Germany’s transport and logistics sector. Proposals include recognising Uzbekistan’s national driving licences and establishing a joint driving school to train bus and truck drivers.
The issues were discussed by Elyor Toshtemirov, deputy head of Uzbekistan’s Migration Agency, and representatives of German companies Global Talent Alliance and TSK Logistik.
Following the meeting, the Migration Agency and Global Talent Alliance signed a cooperation agreement. One of the key initiatives is to seek approval from the relevant German authorities for the direct recognition of Uzbek driving licences.
The sides also considered establishing a joint German-Uzbek driving school. It is expected to train bus and truck drivers in line with the requirements of German employers and national standards.
Particular attention was paid to the difficulties applicants face when obtaining visas.
Uzbekistan’s Migration Agency said it was ready to support the initiative to establish the joint driving school and assist with its implementation. However, recognition of Uzbek driving licences in Germany remains a proposal that requires approval from the competent authorities.
