Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A delegation from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, led by Minister Azizbek Ikramov, is continuing its visit to Belarus to study the organisation of fire and rescue services, public safety training and the equipment used by emergency responders.
On 24 October, the Uzbek delegation visited Fire and Rescue Unit No. 42 of the Minsk City Department of the Belarusian Ministry of Emergency Situations. Representatives of the Belarusian agency briefed the visitors on how the unit operates, its daily tasks and the working conditions of rescue personnel. The delegation also inspected fire and rescue vehicles and equipment used to respond to emergencies.
The next stop was the Belarusian Ministry of Emergency Situations’ Life Safety Education Centre. The delegation was introduced to approaches to teaching the public safe behaviour, developing educational infrastructure and using modern technologies. More than 300,000 people have visited the centre since it opened in 2021.
The Uzbek delegation explored interactive facilities where various hazardous situations are simulated and procedures for responding to emergencies are practised. The educational complex aims to foster a safety-conscious culture and teach people how to behave safely at home, on transport, in public places and outdoors.
Particular attention was paid to Belarusian developments in protective equipment for firefighters and rescue workers. Ikramov was shown examples of protective clothing and personal protective equipment developed by the Belarusian emergency ministry in cooperation with domestic manufacturers, including under state scientific and technical programmes.
According to the Belarusian side, a set of protective firefighting clothing weighs 3.8 kg. The equipment is made from highly heat- and flame-resistant materials, features an ergonomic design and can be fitted with an integrated safety system for evacuation and self-rescue. It complies with the requirements of Eurasian Economic Union Technical Regulation TR EAEU 043/2017.
The delegation also viewed products made by enterprises belonging to the Belarusian State Concern for the Production and Sale of Light Industry Goods, which are used to manufacture specialised clothing and equipment for firefighters and rescue workers.
Earlier in the visit, Belarusian Emergency Situations Minister Vadim Sinyavsky held a working meeting with Ikramov. The Uzbek delegation also visited the University of Civil Protection, research facilities and specialised units of the emergency ministry, the POZHSNAB enterprise, the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant and the Republican Centre for Emergency Management and Response.
