Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with US President’s Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor on 16 October to discuss further development of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
One of the main topics was preparations for the upcoming visit to Uzbekistan by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The participants also discussed arrangements for a ministerial meeting in the C5+1 format and the second meeting of the Uzbek-American Business and Investment Council.
Mirziyoyev stressed the need to give the upcoming events concrete substance, develop new initiatives and ensure the practical implementation of joint projects in priority areas.
The role of the Business and Investment Council in strengthening economic ties was also highlighted. According to the participants, the mechanism has become, in a relatively short time, a tool for advancing joint business initiatives, attracting investment and expanding trade and economic cooperation.
The sides also exchanged views on the schedule of upcoming international events involving the leaders of Uzbekistan and the United States.
