Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent Mayor has signed a resolution to establish 17.9 km of dedicated bus lanes across four streets in the capital.

The document, dated 29 October 2026, also approves a list of specific projects to repair the city’s central streets.

The longest section, measuring 6.3 km, will run along Mirzo Ulugbek Avenue in Mirzo Ulugbek District. Dedicated bus lanes will also be introduced on Muqimi Street, which runs through Yakkasaray and Chilanzar districts (4.6 km); Karatash and Kukcha-Darvoza streets in Shaykhantakhur District (4.2 km); and Parkent Street in Mirzo Ulugbek District (2.8 km).

The resolution aims to give public transport greater priority on Tashkent’s streets and improve convenience for residents. It was adopted in accordance with Presidential Decree No. UP-112 of 26 July 2023 on measures for the city’s socioeconomic development through 2030, and following a proposal from the deputy mayor responsible for transport and road infrastructure.

Toshkent Invest kompaniyasi JSC has been appointed as the client for the repair and construction works. The company must select a general designer, general contractor and technical supervision organisation or consulting engineers in accordance with established legal procedures.

It is also responsible for commissioning project designs and obtaining positive assessments from the state institution Centre for Improving the Efficiency of Projects and Procurement.

The works will be financed through loans from commercial banks, the Tashkent city administration’s Road and Transport Infrastructure Development Fund, and the Tashkent City Development Fund.

An initial allocation of 6.5 billion soums from the latter fund will cover the client's expenses and preparation of project documentation. The amount will be recalculated after the centre issues its assessment, and any remaining funds will be returned to the fund.

Deputy mayors Abdurakhmon Bakhtiyev and Obidjon Muminov, together with municipal services, have been tasked with ensuring that construction, relocation and repair of utility networks are completed before road renovation begins.

Manholes and utility infrastructure will be repaired or relocated at the expense of the organisations responsible for them.
