Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A company director has been detained in Namangan Region on suspicion of fraud after allegedly promising to arrange employment for Uzbek citizens in Poland.

According to Uzbekistan’s State Security Service (SSS), the man offered to organise seasonal work for four people in Poland in exchange for US$10,400.

The operation was carried out by the SSS department in Namangan Region in cooperation with the regional office of the Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to the security service, the company director gained the trust of a resident of Turakurgan District and offered to send him and three acquaintances to Poland for seasonal work. He allegedly demanded US$10,400 to arrange their employment.

The man was detained while receiving US$4,400 as part of the agreed payment.

A preliminary investigation is under way.

The SSS reminded the public that citizens seeking official employment abroad should use licensed agencies.

The service also warned that cases continue to emerge in which individuals attempt to obtain money from citizens by promising to help them find jobs in other countries.
