Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Intil International Language and Vocational Training Centre in Tashkent’s Uchtepa district on 2 November. The centre was established by the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers to prepare citizens for employment abroad in line with the requirements of foreign employers.
The president was briefed on the centre’s educational programmes, infrastructure and projects implemented in cooperation with international partners.
Mirziyoyev noted that the range of opportunities for legal labour migration available to Uzbek citizens had expanded significantly over the past decade. He stressed the importance of ensuring that young people go abroad not only for unskilled work but also as qualified professionals with vocational skills and the ability to adapt to new linguistic and cultural environments.
The centre occupies an area of about 3.5 hectares and provides a range of services for people planning to work abroad, from submitting applications and processing documents to language and vocational training, examinations and assistance with overseas employment.
Visitors can receive visa-related consultations at the front office. The building also houses a bank branch, an airline ticket office and a call centre.
The facility includes classrooms with a capacity of 600 people, practical training rooms for 180, an examination centre for 120 and a dormitory accommodating 400 people. A total of 240 people are currently enrolled in six international projects. Participants receive free tuition and accommodation.
Language training is offered in eight languages: German, English, Japanese, Korean, Czech, Polish, Italian and Slovak. Courses last between six and 10 months. The programmes are expected to be regularly adjusted to reflect the needs of foreign employers.
Vocational training is provided through 12 programmes. Participants study fields including medicine, welding, electrical installation, plumbing, warehouse logistics, construction, hotel and restaurant services, cooking and other specialisations.
The president also inspected simulation rooms where students practise skills for the utilities and construction sectors. The sessions use equipment that recreates real working conditions involving electrical and plumbing systems. Welder training is conducted in accordance with the international standard ISO 9606. Equipment for the training facilities was supplied by Germany, China and Russia.
The examination centre provides facilities for international tests and certification of foreign-language proficiency. These include ÖSD, TELC, J-CERT and EPS TOPIK.
Mirziyoyev emphasised the need to expand language training, particularly in German and Japanese. He also said that foreign-language and vocational education should begin while students are still at school, allowing graduates to find jobs more quickly after completing their studies.
The centre’s training programmes are delivered with the participation of international partners, including Proud Partners, Onodera User Run, Deutsche Bahn, RecruitMed GmbH, PentaHospital and the University of Perugia. Their joint projects are designed to provide training in line with foreign employers’ requirements and subsequently assist graduates in finding jobs.
The centre also has co-working areas, sports facilities and recreation spaces. It employs 40 local staff members and teachers, as well as six foreign-language instructors.
Following the visit, the president recommended expanding this approach to other regions of Uzbekistan. The proposal envisages bringing together candidate selection based on foreign employers’ needs, language and vocational training, qualification certification and employment assistance within a single system.
