Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Authorities in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent Region have identified a greenhouse that was burning coal in violation of environmental requirements, causing air pollution, the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change reported.

The violation was detected during a night raid in Tashkent District conducted by the regional environmental department together with eco-police officers. Measures prescribed by law were taken, and the violation was addressed.

The inspections are part of ongoing efforts to improve air quality, involving the environmental agency’s central and regional offices and eco-police officers.

According to the committee, specialists inspected 46 greenhouses in Tashkent Region and another 16 in the capital on 23–24 October. At one greenhouse in the Khasanboy mahalla, inspectors found coal being burned without dust and gas-cleaning equipment.

The operator was fined under administrative procedures, and the greenhouse’s operations were suspended.

Environmental inspections in the region are continuing.
