Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Egypt has postponed the introduction of new entry rules for Uzbek citizens until 1 March 2027, spokesperson for Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Omanulla Fayziyev said.
According to Fayziyev, the delay was secured following negotiations with Egyptian authorities conducted by Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry and its embassy in Egypt. The sides agreed to reconsider the previously adopted decision to tighten entry requirements.
Until the new rules take effect, Uzbek citizens will be able to travel to Egypt under the existing conditions.
The restrictions were initially scheduled to come into force on 1 November 2026. Under the previously announced requirements, travellers would have needed to obtain a visa in advance to visit Sharm el-Sheikh and other areas of the Sinai Peninsula, and arrange their trips through tour operators. Additional requirements for tourists under the age of 40 included travelling with family members and having sufficient funds.
Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry urged citizens travelling abroad to comply with the laws of their destination countries, observe visa and migration regulations, and respect local traditions and public order.
The ministry stressed that responsible conduct by Uzbek citizens abroad helps strengthen Uzbekistan’s international image.
