Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A delegation of Uzbek farmers and entrepreneurs led by the country’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry visited Egyptian company Belco as part of a visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt. The press service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan reported this.
The delegation members familiarized themselves with the organization of fruit and vegetable production, including cultivation, sorting, packaging and preparation for export.
Belco was established in the 1960s. Today, it has more than 3,000 acres of agricultural land and three packaging facilities. Each year, the company exports about 15,000 tonnes of fruit and vegetable products to countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
During the visit, Uzbek representatives studied the modern agricultural technologies used by the company, irrigation and fertilizer application systems, quality control approaches, as well as harvesting practices.
Particular attention was paid to the rational use of water resources and the cultivation of products intended for export. The delegation also familiarized itself with procedures for preparing agricultural products in accordance with international standards.
Following the visit, the participants discussed with Belco specialists the possibilities of applying Egypt’s experience in Uzbekistan, introducing modern technologies and further developing cooperation in agricultural exports.
