Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Qatari company Artan Holding and City University Qatar are exploring investment opportunities in Uzbekistan, including the acquisition of state-owned assets and the potential establishment of an internationally recognised university. The proposals were discussed at a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Agency for State Asset Management.

The meeting was attended by Alisher Miraliyev, deputy director of the agency, representatives of Artan Holding and City University Qatar President Professor Faris Gorashi Faris.

The parties discussed the Qatari company’s potential participation in the privatisation of state assets, including real estate in Tashkent and land plots in New Tashkent.

Particular attention was given to the development of educational infrastructure. Representatives of Artan Holding and City University Qatar expressed interest in exploring the possibility of opening an international university in Uzbekistan. The Qatari side is considering potential sites and properties for the project.

During the meeting, agency representatives also presented new mechanisms for privatising state assets introduced under a presidential decree. These provide for preferential acquisition terms, including interest-free instalment payments and discounts for full payment.

Under the proposed terms, buyers who make an initial payment of 35% of an asset’s value within three months can pay the remaining amount in interest-free instalments over a period of up to five years.

If a buyer makes an initial payment of 50% within six months, the remaining balance can be paid in interest-free instalments over a period of up to seven years. Buyers who pay the full price within six months receive a 25% discount on the asset’s total value.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to arrange visits for Artan Holding and City University Qatar representatives to properties listed for electronic auctions. They also agreed to review available land plots in New Tashkent in light of the proposed educational project.

Artan Holding is a Qatari company established in 1997. Its main areas of activity include education, real estate, engineering, energy and infrastructure development.
