Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan plans to establish a specialised training and assessment centre to prepare professionals in microelectronics, mechatronics and integrated circuit design.

The initiative is being implemented through cooperation between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment and Malaysia’s Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC).

The new centre is expected to operate under the qualification assessment centres supervised by the ministry. It will focus on vocational training and skills assessment in fields in demand across modern technology industries.

Citizens will be able to upgrade their qualifications and acquire new professional skills through the Professional Voucher system. The project aims to expand vocational training opportunities in microelectronics, mechatronics and integrated circuit design (IC Design).

Founded in 1989, the Penang Skills Development Centre specialises in training personnel for the electronics and microelectronics industries, semiconductor manufacturing and automation.

Its industrial partners include international companies Intel, AMD, Bosch, Renesas and OSRAM.
