Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Polina Kudermetova advanced to the second round of the Ningbo Open after defeating Spain’s Cristina Bucsa 7–6 (7–5), 6–2.
Bucsa is ranked 38th in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, having reached a career-high position of 30th.
In the next round, Kudermetova will face Elena Rybakina, the tournament’s top seed and the world’s top-ranked player. Rybakina received a bye into the second round due to her seeding.
The match between Kudermetova and Rybakina is scheduled for October 22.
