Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Deputy Agriculture Minister Alisher Shukurov held a meeting with Rishan Chaudhry, the US Department of Agriculture’s regional agricultural adviser for Central Asia, the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan said.
During the talks, the sides discussed developing bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture and the US Department of Agriculture, establishing direct working contacts between the agencies and expanding practical cooperation in mutually beneficial areas.
Particular attention was paid to expanding trade in agricultural products and developing mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation in the agricultural sector.
The sides also discussed studying the experience of California and Texas in agricultural development, the main crops grown in the two states, modern production technologies, the efficient use of water resources and achieving high yields, as well as opportunities to apply this experience and approaches in Uzbekistan.
The meeting also addressed cooperation in agricultural education and science. In particular, the participants discussed prospects for expanding ties between leading agricultural universities and research institutions in Uzbekistan and the United States, organizing exchanges of experience and providing professional development opportunities for specialists and young professionals.
At the end of the meeting, the sides agreed to continue regular dialogue, develop specific cooperation initiatives in the areas identified and continue efforts to further expand practical ties.
