Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and South Korea are discussing new investment projects and the introduction of advanced technologies in agriculture, Uzbekistan’s Agriculture Ministry said.
As part of a working visit, a delegation from the ministry held meetings with Firmmit President Sunkhee Park and GW International President Kim Saiyong.
During talks with Firmmit, the sides discussed projects to grow strawberries in Uzbekistan for domestic demand and export markets. They also considered establishing agricultural cooperatives based on South Korea’s experience, introducing modern agricultural technologies and improving the qualifications of local agronomists.
With GW International, the sides discussed prospects for developing vegetable seed production, introducing modern technologies and establishing an R&D centre at the Research Institute of Vegetable Growing.
The centre is planned to facilitate the transfer of advanced technologies, train local specialists and produce certified seeds. The next stage is expected to involve the creation of a system for exporting the seeds.
The talks focused on introducing South Korea’s advanced agricultural experience in Uzbekistan, strengthening the capacity of farmers and specialists, and developing innovative and competitive agricultural production systems.
